New 2010 Colorado Licensure for Private Pay Home Care Agencies
- Under the direction of the Colorado Department of Health, private pay agencies must obtain licensure as either
- Non-medical – License “B”
- Non-medical and Skilled – License “A”
Requirements licensed class A providers must adhere to (Chapter 26)
- Care must be under the supervision of PHYSICAN or REGISTERED NURSE (R.N.)
- On-going training shall be supplied to all direct care staff
- R.N. shall conduct an assessment of medical, nursing, and social needs
- A comprehensive care plan, when indicated, will be written, monitored, and changed as needed
- Comprehensive assessment shall include a review of all medications
- All comprehensive care plans will be reviewed and signed by an attending physician

- with peripheral circulatory problems
- with open skin sores
- Bathing with prescription skin care
- Wound care
- Respiratory care
- Body positioning
- Catheter insertion & removal
- Digital stimulation, insert suppositories, enemas
- Transfers and assist where client cannot direct the assist
- Blood sugar testing
- Blood draws
- Injections
- Tube feeding
